CALL FOR PAPERS

4th INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF BENGAL STUDIES

12th – 13th December, 2015

Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Tokyo, Japan

 

Papers are invited for the 4th International Congress of Bengal Studies scheduled to be held on 12th–13th December, 2015. The 4th Congress will be hosted by Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Tokyo, Japan.

 

Papers on all the areas of Bengal Studies, including, but not limited to, Literature and Criticism, Comparative Literature, Linguistics, Folklore, Cultural Studies, Media Studies, History, Economics, Geography, Political Science, Development Studies, Ecology, Sociology, Anthropology, Philosophy, Fine Arts, Archaeology, Museology are invited. Papers should be written either in English or Bengali.

 

Last date for submission of abstract (800-1000 words) is 15th February 2015. Abstracts will be received only through email to [email protected]. An abstract is expected to give an outline of the primary material of study/survey; approach/methodology adopted; survey of works done by other scholars so far in the concerned area; and, finally, how the proposed paper adds to the existing knowledge. Those who will submit papers in Bengali should send abstracts both in Bengali and English. Abstract in English and/or in Bengali must be sent as a PDF document. Participants will be informed by April, 2015, about the decision of abstract review. Full paper should be sent to organizing committee by the end of October, 2015.

 

Participants must register by 31stJuly, 2015, by paying 70 US dollars (30 US dollars for students). Registration fee for life members would be 50 US dollars. Registration fee for Japanese participants would be 9,000 Japanese yen (4,000 Japanese yen for students). Registration will cover the right to attend all sessions, conference kit, abstract book, working lunch, and the proceedings of the ICBS conference. Participants are expected to make arrangement for their own travel and accommodation. Mode of payment, a list of hotels with contact details etc. will be communicated to confirmed participants.

 

The organizer may arrange for a limited number of grants for South Asian scholars covering the local hospitality (food and accommodation). Those who are interested in this grant must submit full papers by 30th June, 2015.
